Father & Sons

Last night dad took Talmage to his very first father & sons outing. We took of for camp at about 11:30 pm. After picking up a few things we were or our way. Talmage slept all the way until we got to Grantsville.  On the way up we stopped in Grantsville and got something to eat.  Talmage loved eating the french fries.  It is so fun to see how he has grown up and enjoys such big kid things. We Camped out near Grantsville in South Willow Canyon. It was a fun, leisure drive up.
We arrived about 2:45 and drove around the canyon until we fount a nice site that was open.
Once we got into the site we walked around and explored it for a bit to find the right sites to reserve.  Talmage loved to "go up a hill" and "down a hill". He would come down the hill and try to get daddy with his gridiron "I gonna get ya" look.

Talmage loves to play Peter Pan - Captain Hook (he is usually Hook and dad is Pan), well within the first little bit of being in camp he found some sticks and had to play Hook and Pan with dad.  He loves to sword fight, wrestle, growl, tackle, play, and mess around.  What a true boy.  That is why we love him.
It was so much to have just Talmage and daddy time together.  We have not really ever had a chance to take time to hang out with just the two of us.  It was a blast.  I love my little boy and am excited to raise him and watch him constantly grow up into a man.  He is learning so much every single day.  He is a gem.  We were off in the trees without any TV, movies, trains, cars, or other distractions it was just dad and Talmage and nature (and a bunch of other boys, but no one else got there until about 5, so other than Stefvn - the neighbor boy - it was just Talm and dad).  We got to go on a little hike and took a 30 min nap together on top of our tent (because dad forgot to bring the tent poles - thank goodness for Byron for bringing them up to us later)  That was one of the most treasured experiences of the trip to just lay there with my boy in my arm and his arm around me and laying there under the trees.  Good thing though that our poles made it up there or we would have been awfully wet since it rained quite a bit that night.  Here you can see Talm taking a nap of his own on our pole-less tent.  He is not sleeping here, but he did his fair share of sleep.
He did a great job helping dad try to build a fire - he would keep feeding me matches, which we needed unfortunately.  He also would help me blow on it to try to get it going.  It is so much fun to watch him do exactly what his daddy does.  It also puts a lot of pressure on me to be a good example in everything that I do and say.
After trying to help me build a fire we sat back and let someone else do it, but he was worn out and rested himself in my lap and ultimately fell asleep (at 6:45 pm). As soon as I got the tent I laid him down with the fear that he would wake up in the middle of the night.  He only woke up once because his hat was over his eyes.  Otherwise he slept until I woke him up at about 7:30 am this morning.  He truly got his good amount of sleep, but I feel bad since he missed the roasting marshmallows, but I think that his hot cocoa this morning plenty made up for it.  We had a great time together.  Between our little hikes, the fire, the river, sleeping together in a tent and just being together it was a blast!!
The site happened to be near the river and of course Talmage loved that. As you can see he loved to throw rocks in the river. "Ready, 123 go" and he would throw them in. He is so adorable!! Then after throwing them in he would throw his arms in the air and look at me and yell did it!"

"look dad a castle"
