Miracles

Jer and I just enjoyed a great weekend in St George.   We were going to go on a nice 2-3 hour casual bike ride this afternoon in SG before heading home, but he flatted out twice in the first 5 min and we were out of tubes so we packed the bikes up and headed home.....just in time to eat dinner with Jer's mom Marla, and watch a fire behind the mountain behind her house creep up.  Within the hour we were packing the most important things, pictures and documents either in the car or downstairs in the safest place of the house.  By the time we left the air was pure black around us and fire was within about 2 blocks.  It's very scary up there.  I am so gratful for those flats.  Had we not left when we did we would be arriving to a blackened and chaotic Herriman city unsure of where our kids were and no way to find out because all cell service is down in that area.  She wouldn't have had the time or room to pack what she needed, and there wouldn't have technically been enough seats in her car with our 3 kids and her 2 kids.  Our kids would have probably been more scared in the chaos than they already are, and I can't imagine our reaction upon coming into the valley.  But we all got out safe and are praying for the area.  Please do too if you will.  So thankful for the Lord's protection and guidance.
And on the bright side, Mckayla now has something to write to the friend about  :)  Sweet girl always looks on the bright side of things.

See the empty circle straight in the center of the bottom of the fire?  Follow it down to the blackened area where it jumped the road, then her house is about 6 houses to the left.  Too close for comfort.  Very very sad for those who lost their homes, but yes a miracle it wasn't worse, there could have been much more destruction.  All the houses next to it have the fire line right at the rocks at the end of their grass, and the yards are not huge here.

Wow, what an experience. I hope her house and others are all safe too. How scary. So glad the Lord is watching out for you!

We were in St. George this last weekend too. I'm glad you had a fun little getaway.
